Anya Taylor-Joy recalls the feeling that she had during a recent trip to New York. She mentioned it as a “frightening” encounter with paparazzi.

“The Queen Gambit” star opened up about the fame she’s experienced with some photographers. She said in an interview, “Most people are sweet and kind and just want to have a conversation.” But she didn’t love the way the paparazzi approach her. She said, “Well, there are other times when you’re just one person facing off against 20 and that’s just physically not safe,” she explained. “It can be very frightening when there are whole bunches of men with cameras attached to their faces running after you down the street.”

She also recalled one specific incident during her trip to New York. At that time, she was hosting the show “Saturday Night Live”. She said to the photographers, ‘Hello, my name is Anya. Let’s lower down the camera and let’s meet.

She continued, “I am not prey. I don’t want to run. I’d rather be like, ‘I understand this is your job and I hope that you can understand that I am a woman of a certain size and I feel intimidated right now, so can we make it work so you can do your job and I can feel less frightened?”‘

Anya won a Golden Globe award, a Critics’ Choice Television Award, and a Screen Actors Guild award for her performance. Anya isn’t the only star to speak out about facing problems with the paparazzi. Recent past Hailey Bieber, Blake Lively, and Sophie Turner also shared their feelings.
