The “Deadpool” actor Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively announced that they have pledged a $1 million grant to the ACLU and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Both organizations are providing legal support and other resources to fight civil rights injustices.

Ryan Reynolds shared on Twitter “We still believe in you, 2021. Let’s help @ACLU and @naacp_ldf change it together,” The “Green Lantern” star wrote on his Instagram Stories, “Honoured and excited to launch this,” He also wrote, “THANK YOU ACLU and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund for your tireless work defending rights and protecting civil liberties.”

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund also praised the great effort of the couple. They shared the details about the grant on social media. They stated, “LDF is hugely grateful to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for matching all gifts up to $1,000,000 split between LDF and @ACLU through October 8,” the organization also said, “Their generosity comes at a critical time for our democracy.”

Previously, Ryan and Blake showed their support for the people who were affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. At the time, they donated a huge amount of money to support relief efforts. Four organizations including Airlink, Haiti Air Ambulance, FOKAL/Ayiti Demen, and Hope for Haiti got $10,000 each.
