Slipknot’s founding drummer Joey Jordison has died at the age of 46. A rep for his family confirmed the sad news. Though the cause of death has not yet been confirmed. The family will hold a private funeral service.

A statement from Jordison’s family read, “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music.”

The rep also said, “The family of Joey has asked that friends, fans, and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time.”

Jordison performed as a drummer for Slipknot from the beginning. During the original formation, the band called themselves the Pale Ones. Later they named the band Meld. But Jordison changed their name to Slipknot in 1995. He performed for the band till 2013.  After that, he formed the heavy metal band Scar The Martyr. Unfortunately, they disbanded it in 2016. A few years ago, Jordison revealed that the reason he exited the band.

He said, “I got really, really sick with a horrible disease called transverse myelitis, I lost my legs,” He also said, “I couldn’t play anymore. It was a form of multiple sclerosis, which I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I got myself back up, and I got myself in the gym and I got myself back in fucking therapy, to fucking beat this shit.”
