Influential folk singer Judy Henske died at the age of 85. She was one of the well-known songwriters and a charismatic figure in the American folk industry. The singer’s husband and keyboardist Craig Doerge confirmed the news. She was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital and taking treatment for her illness. Her husband, daughter, and granddaughter were present at the time of her death. The plans for a memorial will be announced soon.

Judy Henske’s popular single ‘High Flying Bird’ was covered by the famous Jefferson Airplane. That best-known track was inspired by the name of Noel Gallagher’s post-Oasis project. Producer Jack Nitzsche gave her the nickname ‘The Queen Of The Beatniks’. Henske was fond of combined music. She loved both traditional as well as original material. All the folk, blues, show tunes, and jazz were on her favorite list.

The singer was well-known to her fans for her sarcastic and comedic stage presence. She used to get inspiration from the title character in Annie Hall. She was fond of this character since the 1960s when director Woody Allen shared a stage with her.

Her most acclaimed album was Farewell Aldebaran’ which was released in 1969. It was recorded with her then-husband, Jerry Yester. They formed a short-lived band “Rosebud” together. They also released an eponymous follow-up in 1971.
