Queen Elizabeth Attended Her First Royal Engagement Since Prince Philip’s Death

After Prince Philip’s death at the age of 99, Queen Elizabeth hosted a retirement ceremony for Earl Peel who was her former Lord Chamberlain.

The monarch hosted a retirement ceremony at Windsor Castle. This ceremony was in honor of Earl Peel who stepped down as Lord Chamberlain, according to the Court Circular.

They shared a statement which said, “The Earl Peel had an audience of The Queen today, delivered up his Wand and Insignia of Office as Lord Chamberlain and the Badge of Chancellor of the Royal Victorian Order and took leave upon relinquishing his appointment as Lord Chamberlain, when Her Majesty invested him with the Royal Victorian Chain.”

It is also heard that former MI5 spy chief Baron Andrew Parker is going to take Peel’s duties. The Lord Chamberlain is the most senior officer position which is directly appointed by the royal household.

The main duty of this position is to oversee all senior appointments of the senior royal family. This position facilitates communication between the sovereign and the House of Lords. This position also responsible to co-ordinate engagements between Buckingham Palace and Clarence House.

It seems the Queen’s return to royal engagements will motivate the senior royal staffers.
