At the 2022 Hollywood Music in Media Awards, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Drake are among the songwriters competing for song-feature films. The HMMAs recognize music supervisors, songwriters, and composers for their work in video games, television, and movies.

The HMMAs this year has 32 nomination spaces for songs across five categories and 49 slots for scores across eight categories, in contrast to the Oscars, which only have five candidates for best original song and five for best original score.

Numerous nominees include Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Simon Franglen, Danny Elfman, Finneas, and Danny Elfman. Selena Gomez, Drake, Tanya Tucker, Mel Brooks, and Jazmine Sullivan are among the nominees for best songwriter.

Three out of the six HHMA nominations for best sci-fi picture score go to Michael Giacchino, which is amazing. He is nominated for his collaboration with Nami Melumad on the films Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Batman, and Thor: Love and Thunder.

The two most intriguing categories are two for which there is no Oscar equivalent. The best onscreen song performance has its category in the HMMAs. Additionally, there is no corresponding category for musicals, biopics, or films with a musical theme in the Oscars. These movies compete for best picture at the Oscars alongside all the other movies. Elvis, Spirited, Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro, Tár, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story are the nominations.
